The spa at the Esperanza was the prettiest spa I have ever been to. You can seriously spend hours relaxing in the steam room, plunge pool & just meditate under the beautiful palm trees outside on a comfy lounge. I did the Esperanza Tropical Essence Massage and the Grated Coconut & Lime Body Exfoliation first then added on a Creamy Coconut Bath. I cannot begin to describe the utter bliss that I was in. The names are enticing and unique enough...and trust me, the therapists and treatments totally live up to everything you could hope for. It's hard to pick treatments...but no doubt you'll love whatever you end up with! I can't wait to go back and try more!

As a self-proclaimed spa junkie, I feel compelled to share insight on spa experiences b/c if you are spending a good amount of money to be pampered, it really does matter how awesome the place is or isn't. Rancho La Puerta gets an awesome and unique rating. This place is a retreat that puts you close to nature and focuses on self. It's an amazing place to take time out, get a deep breath, organize thoughts, reconnect with your body, and realigned your entire being. It's sooooo refreshing. The food is outstanding, spa treatments are heavenly and the summer deals seriously cannot be beat. I loved being able to do what I wanted when I wanted. Hot stone massage, rigorous hikes, delicious meals, curling up with a book, joining in an exercise class, and strolling through the beautiful gardens reflecting on life, my stay at Rancho La Puerta was utter bliss...and is often longed for.

I stayed at the Las Ventanas al Paraso on my honeymoon (and reviewed it under the "sleep" section). The hotel could not have been better...except for the spa. Don't get me wrong, it was good, but if you are trying to save money or are in search of the perfect treatment, maybe try one of the others in the area. It's not as peaceful, serene, or quiet as I would expect...heard a lot of outside noise and the therapists weren't nearly as attentive and focused as I would have expected (compared to the rest of the resort service...this was no on par). Maybe I'm a spa snob...but I would recommend trying somewhere else.
