Girls’ Guide to the World values your right to privacy. This policy is effective as of 1 January, 2009 and governs the collection of personal information through this website on or after this date.

GENERAL USERS

 We encourage all users to register with us in order to enjoy the full array of benefits offered by the Girls’ Guide to the World community. However, if you do not register with us you are still encouraged to enjoy the insights provided on the site.

If you do not register, the information we collect from you is limited. We do track usage statistics, however we do not attempt to identify our users through IP addresses. If you reached our site by clicking on a link on another site, then we may track that information.  However, this information is only used to generate overall reports on our visitors, not reports about individual visitors.

REGISTERED USERS

 If you are a member of the Girls’ Guide to the World community, you'll be able to add reviews and venues to the site and will be able to communicate with other Girls’ Guide members on the site. For example, you may post your own travel reviews and respond to other member’s reviews or questions. We encourage you to register so that you can enjoy the full experience of being a member of the Girls’ Guide to the World community.

If you register with us, we will require you to provide us with personal information, including your name, email address, Girls’ Guide to the World user name and password. Additionally, we will request, but will not require you to provide us with your gender, age, country, education level, income level and marital status. This additional information will be used solely so we can gauge the demographics of our members, which will then allow us to provide the most appropriate content on our site.

We may also use your email address to periodically contact you with news or important information from Girls’ Guide to the World or to request your feedback on our site.

You may opt-out of any communications from Girls’ Guide to the World at anytime by emailing us at accounts@girlsguidetotheworld.com.

We may also provide certain demographic information to our advertisers in order to present advertisements on our site that you may find interesting. However, we will never provide our advertisers with your name or contact information.

You can cancel your registration by emailing us at accounts@girlsguidetotheworld.com. We will send you an e-mail to confirm your request. After we receive confirmation, we will remove your information from our active database, but some information may remain in our archives.

Girls’ Guide to the World does not sell or rent any personal information to any third party. We may aggregate personal information from all of our users and provide that information in the aggregate to other parties, including advertisers, for marketing and promotional purposes. As you are aware, Girls’ Guide to the World must cooperate with legal authorities. As such, in certain circumstances we may be required by law to disclose personally identifiable information. The only information on Girls’ Guide to the World that will be publicly viewable and identifiable will be your user name and any reviews that you submit. Girls’ Guide to the World will not share your email address with any other members nor display it any public manner.

Like many websites, we make use of browser cookies. Cookies are small text files placed on your computer's hard disk by our server. They allow us to quickly check your status as a member and facilitate access to your preferences.  We will never use cookies to retrieve information from a computer that is unrelated to our site or services.

CHANGES TO PRIVACY POLICY

We reserve the right to change this policy should we determine it best to do so. If we make changes that will affect personal information we have already collected from you, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you of the changes and to give you the opportunity to amend or cancel your registration.
