A weekend in europe

Europe is a destination coveted by travelers from all over the world. Its unique landscapes and cultures provide a diverse and rich experience for visitors of all kinds. However, with so many great cities on offer to showcase the joys of the continent, it can be hard to chose which ones to visit, especially when you only have a short time to get away.

These five classic destinations guarantee a perfect weekend, and have so much to offer for a fantastic city break.

Athens

For history lovers, Athens is a one-stop, dream shop. Once the capital of the cradle of civilization, the wondrous Greek empire, this beautifully preserved city is awash with ruins. There are many tours that cover all the main sites, including the Acropolis, Partheon and the Delphi ruins.

The modern culture perfectly entwines with its long history, with quaint restaurants offering fresh and delicious Mediterranean cuisine. The many tavernas are brimming with locals, and those who like a party will love the rife drinking culture of delicious, traditional Ouzo.

As one of the most famous cities in the entire world, this French capital has long been a favorite for European travelers. Its romantic atmosphere, and rich culture, makes it the ideal stop-off for couples, families or even the lone explorer. Classic landmarks are in abundance, with highlights including the Eiffel Tower, The Arc De Triomphe and, the art lover’s favorite, The Louvre.

Alongside this, the restaurant culture is awash with fine dining and haute cuisine experiences. Spend an afternoon sipping coffee with locals at the many street side cafés, or simply enjoy your day wandering the picturesque backstreets.

Budapest

With Eastern Europe fast increasing in popularity on the world’s stage, now is by far the best time to visit Hungary’s wonderful capital. Set astride the Danube river, the two districts of Buda and Pest come together to make an architectural and cultural paradise.

Join the locals in the many thermal spas or take the time to enjoy a drink in the beloved teahouses.

Reykjavik

Iceland is another up and coming destination that is becoming increasingly popular with travelers of all kinds. With so many geographical and cultural spectacles, its no wonder tourists are flocking here in their droves. The most famous landmark, the blue lagoon, is a heated pool where you can sit back, relax and enjoy a drink in the warm azure waters.
