Portugal is one of Europe’s top destinations for a Summer holiday and weekend breaks, the Southern European country has impeccable coasts filled with holiday resorts and beautiful beaches, bustling cities and traditional towns. Such is the location of Portugal it has been heavily influenced over the years by many African and American nations and the country now has a rich variety of influences and styles. If you have been considering a trip to Portugal this year then here are some destinations that you should be considering for your trip.

Albufeira

This former fishing village is now a popular tourist destination that has several bars, nightclubs and beach resorts. Albufeira is full of life and colour, many of the villas and sea-front properties are multi-coloured and give the town a great look. The marina is still used for the fisherman to sell their shellfish and by night the seafood restaurants open their doors for some seaside dining. Portugal’s capital is a coastal city that is full of life, colour and culture, the perfect way to see the city is on a weekend where Lisbon really comes to life with music, dancing and bustling cafes. There are two sides to this city, the old town which comprises of the imposing Sao Jorge castle and ancient buildings and streets with traditional shops, restaurants and cafes, and the new city with business centres, trendy bars and cafes, museums and art galleries. Just outside Lisbon you can find some beautiful and relatively quiet beaches and they are easily accessible by local transport. Despite it’s busy nature, Lisbon has a very relaxed feel about it and simply wandering through the city, people-watching and absorbing the varied architecture is an adventure in itself.
