Italy is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. Unfortunately, I’ve never been to Italy, but I have eaten some of the best Italian food right here in America. If you’re like me, then traveling to Italy is just not in the budget, but eating like you’re in Italy is.
If you’re a true New Yorker then you know that some of the best places to have Italian food isn’t just in Little Italy. Arthur Avenue in the Bronx, is worth the trip out of the city. This area is authentic Italian Cuisine that will make you feel like you’ve died and gone to Italy. Most of the restaurants are family owned with recipes passed down for generations, so each bite is unique and delicious. Each restaurant has a strong focus on hospitality, and make you feel like you’re a part of the family. No matter where you eat on the ave, I promise you will not leave hungry.
The next place is a specific one, but completely worth it. Don Peppe’s in Ozone Park, New York may be some of the best Italian food I’ve ever had. Everything is served family style, so make sure you come hungry and with friends. Each waiter makes sure you’re they’re number one concern from the time you step in the door to the moment you leave. The food is indescribable, a personal favorite is the linguine white clam. Even though I don’t even like seafood, I have dreams of this dish. With the perfect ratio of butter and garlic, you’ll be soaking up what’s left with the fresh bread on your table.
The last place is up in the North End of Boston, a beautiful area that transports you right to Europe. The architecture and atmosphere will make you feel as if you’re walking down the streets in Italy. Not to mention that the air smells like home-cooked Italian meals and desserts. Pellino’s Ristorante is one of the best restaurant’s in the North End. Like a lot of the Italian restaurants, the entire staff is dedicated to making you feel at home but it’s the food that puts it over the top. The porcini-mushroom risotto will leave your stomach happy for days. It’ll make you want to come back again and again. There’s even a Groupon in case you had to pay to travel to Boston. After your meal, you can walk just two blocks down to the Boston Harbor for unbelievable views.
So whether you’re in Italy or not, there’s always ways to trick your tastebuds into thinking that you’re there (and I think you’re will be just as happy as you!)
