Consider this your guide to nightlife in Paris to get you out and barhopping à la Parisienne.

If you’re in a chatty mood, check out Chez Jeannette. This lively restaurant in the colorful Strasbourg Saint-Denis neighborhood hosts a veritable hodgepodge of characters by the time happy hour arrives. Particularly on warmer nights, the clientele spills out onto the cobblestoned streets to commingle with the patrons of neighboring bars. Be sure to sample the wide array of pastis.

Feeling a little gourmand? Nosh on some of the yummiest small plates in the city at Verjus. This wine cellar/cocktail bar keeps it very classy while serving up comfort food–inspired amuse-bouches to accompany a refined variety of wines and cocktails. Our personal favorites are the butternut squash angliotti and the buttermilk fried chicken, but with such a clever selection, you can’t go wrong.
Best Cocktail

It’s official. The cocktail has made its comeback on the Parisian bar scene! To get a taste of some of the city’s best recipes, check out the Experimental Cocktail Club, located in the historic Montorgueil quarter. At this establishment, old-school liquors tango with fresh juices and subtle spices. If you’ve never experienced the balance and perfection of mixology, you’re in for a delicious treat!
Nostalgic
The Wall Street Club

29, rue Vineuse, in the 16th.
Open late.
Wind the clock back to the Roaring Twenties in New York City—sequined dresses and feathers galore! Indeed, the ambience at the Wall Street Club passes muster for a speakeasy of times past. A surprisingly diverse crowd of Paris’s most fabulous sophisticates lounge in the velvet and mahogany interior of this brothel turned bar. At this rather exclusive spot, your knock on the front door is usually answered by the young owner himself.
Hip
Chez Prune

36, rue Beaurepaire, in the 10th Arrondissement. 01 42 41 30 47.
Mon–Sat, 8 a.m.–2 a.m.; Sun, 10 a.m.–2 a.m.

Bordering the oh-so-bobo canal Saint-Martin, this trendy watering hole is becoming a stomping ground for the hip(ster) inhabitants of northeastern Paris. At any given time, young, stylish Parisians clutter Chez Prune’s rustic but bright interior. In the summer, it’s the perfect place to conclude an afternoon of picnicking by the lovely canal.
Late Night
Le Connétable

55, rue des Archives, in the 3rd Arrondissement. 01 42 77 41 40.
Open late.

Still not ready to turn in? Restaurant by day, red-eye hangout by night, le Connétable has been collecting late-night stragglers in the Marais for years. By 2 a.m. the scene is a happy mix of night owls of all ages and backgrounds. The warmed-up crowd makes for a festive vibe, where chitchat and schmooze are welcome if not required!
