You might have heard of Marlette, the trendy culinary brand originating from île de Ré that has taken Bretagne by storm with its savory and organic pre-made mixes. Now you can have it all in Paris at Café Marlette, opened by sisters, Margot and Scarlett; this tearoom boutique can be found on the famous rue des Martyrs. Compared to a typical Paris Café, Marlette is not very large, but it’s cozy with its comfy couches and big windows.

We opted for a large assiette Marlette (Marlette signature plate) for 13,50 euros, a barre fruites sec et sésame (dried fruit and sesame bar) as well as a citronnade (lemonade). The signature dish was perfectly assembled with red cabbage, mescaline and a rare bleu cheese that really came together well with the most perfect seasonings. In my opinion, the barre sésame et fruits secs (dried fruit and sesame bar) hit the nail on the head: the whole ensemble was scrumptious even though we would have preferred it to be a bit softer.

The soupe de lentils corail et curry (coral lentil curry soup) was nearly perfect. We loved its spices that really brought together all of the flavors. To be honest, it was a bit too heavy for our taste, but let’s remember that Café Marlette just opened so they have some things to tweak. To boot, we enjoyed a slice of cake sale (savory cake) which really completed the dish.

In short, we have been patiently anticipating the opening of Café Marlette and we were definitely not disappointed! We will return for sure whether it’s for a snack or another lunch. If you’d like to make these tasty dishes at home, the Marlette products are waiting for you on the shelves of this chic Parisian address – we know that we won’t be able to resist!
In a nutshell: For a delicious and healthy lunch in the 9th arr, choose Café Marlette.
If you like this then you should try: Les Pipelettes for tea time or a light lunch, also started by two ladies.
