New Year’s Eve: Wearing French Fashion
Fri 27 Dec 2013
There’s a rumor that the way you spend New Year’s Eve is how you’ll spend the rest of the year. Regardless of what you plan to do, whether it’s dancing the night away or curling up on the couch with a loved one and a bottle of champagne, do it in style. We turned to the experts of style at Galeries Lafayette to help put together the perfect New Year’s Eve outfits for almost every type of celebration. Add some French fashion to your wardrobe for a stylish and fabulous New Year’s Eve. Will it guarantee a stylish and fabulous 2014? No, but it’s an excellent way to start!
Sparkling
If you’re going to be standing outside to watch the Eiffle Tower sparkle and fireworks light up the night sky, make sure you dress warmly! There is nothing worse than being unprepared in cold weather. These adorable winter accessories will ensure that you spend the evening warm and toasty while also looking chic. One perk of standing in the cold? Darling rosy cheeks!
Yves Salomon Jacket
This is the ultimate New Year’s Eve jacket. There are sparkles, and it’s fuzzy—what more do you need?
À la Maison
There’s always a little pressure on New Year’s Eve to do something extra fabulous, but sometimes nothing beats cuddling up on the couch and watching the countdown to midnight. If you’re taking it easy at home, there is no reason you can’t be a little festive even if you want to stay in your pj’s. This is New Year’s Eve after all! Add a little lace to a comfortable look for a snug yet fashionable evening.
A Classy Party
My plan for this year is to have some good friends over, opening several bottles of champagne and celebrating in style. To make it feel a little more festive, all the guests need to dress in style (what that means is up to the guests, so the results should be interesting!). I wanted to wear something with a 1920s feel, and I luckily found the perfect flapper-esque dress. Since I don’t have to leave my apartment, I don’t have to worry about dressing warmly and won’t need any other accessories besides some gorgeous heels. If you’re looking for something with a little more shine, I love this Ralph Lauren dress. It screams New Year’s.
Want to Add Some Heels, Too?
Listening to live music is one of my favorite things to do, and it is a great way to welcome the New Year. If you’re going to be listening to music, either at a large venue or a small club, you’ll need something comfortable but superhip. There are so few times of the year when you can easily pull off bronze jeans, and one of them is definitely while listening to live music on New Year’s Eve. I like these jeans from Agnès B. because they’re not too flashy but still very festive. You could wear them with a simple black shirt, heels or Converse, depending on the venue and how much dancing you plan to do! Gold jeans not your thing? A little black dress is always a good idea. This one has a touch of sparkle, which makes it perfect for celebrating the New Year and dancing the night away.
