65, rue St.-Louis-en-I’lle, in the 4th. 01 43 26 23 52. Also on the Ile-St.-Louis, this is a lovely place located on one of the prettiest streets in Paris.

Hôtel des Académies et des Arts $$
15, rue de la Grande Chaumière, in the 6th. 01 43 26 66 44. This place is around the corner from Le Dome and Montparnasse yet still in the 6th. It is artsy and terribly chic, with a small lobby and a cool, discreet vibe.

Hôtel du Jeu de Paume $$–$$$
54, rue St.-Louis-en-l’Ile, in the 4th. 01 43 26 14 18. On the Ile-St.-Louis in a building dating from the 1600s, this hotel exudes charm. If you have a group, the apartments can be a good deal, while smaller rooms can be cramped.

Hôtel du Panthéon $$
19, Place du Panthéon, in the 5th. 01 43 54 32 95. Classic and popular in a killer location.

Hôtel Lancaster $$$
7, rue de Berri, in the 8th, just off the Champs Elysées. 01 40 76 40 76. Spanish owned and run, very chic and not as well known as some of the others. This is a great choice for those in the know. Let this be our little secret.

Hôtel Luxembourg Parc $$
42, rue de Vaugirard, in the 6th. 01 53 10 36 50. Consistently rated No. 1 by travelers. The location on the park is ideal, the rooms are very attractive and the service is great.

Hôtel Montalembert $$$
3, rue de Montalembert, in the 7th. 01 45 49 68 68. One of the first boutique hotels in Paris, designed by Christian Liaigre. Rooms are small—but you are in Paris after all. The location off the rue du Bac couldn’t be more chic.

Relais Christine $$$–$$$$
3, rue Christine, in the 6th. 01 40 51 60 80. Situated on a quiet street right in the middle of the action in the 6th, for years this beautiful hotel has been one of the most elegant places to stay in the area. The courtyard entry and small spa are highlights. Rooms that have their own garden are spectacular. Rooms are constantly being refurbished, so ask for a newer one if you prefer. Each is unique.

Pavillon de la Reine $$$–$$$$
28, Place des Vosges, in the Marais, in the 3rd. 01 40 29 19 19. La Reine, on the spectacular Place des Vosges square, has recently undergone a complete renovation. It barely looks like the same place. While its location and courtyard entry have always been its hallmarks, now it boasts a terribly chic decor.

Relais Saint-Germain $$–$$$
9, carrefour de l’Odéon, in the 6th. 01 43 29 12 05.This perfect classic near the Odéon houses one of the best restaurants in the neighborhood.

Relais Saint-Sulpice $–$$
3, rue Garancière, in the 6th. 01 46 33 99 00. Lovely and well priced, in a spectacular area, near the famous church of the same name. This hotel transports you to the Paris of the ’30s. A real find.
