Prague

Day 1: Thursday, October 3, 2024

Our driver will pick you up at the Prague airport (most flights from North America land in the morning) and take you to the 5-star BoHo Hotel, a nine-minute walk from the old town square. You'll check into a junior suite. If you suffer from jet lag, come a day early, and we will help you book an extra night. 

This afternoon, we'll take a walking tour of Prague Castle with a private English-speaking guide. 

After another short rest back at the hotel, we'll meet for welcome drinks in the lobby before we head to U Fleku, a pub and restaurant founded in 1499. Beer is a Czech religious right. It matches their rustic traditional food perfectly.

Prague

Day 2: Friday, October 4, 2024

After a scrumptious hotel breakfast, we'll visit the historic Old Town to see its famous astronomical clock chime. We'll tuck into the Baroque Klementium Library with its 20,000 rare books for a guided visit followed by lunch at the Mlýnec Restaurant with a gorgeous view.

After lunch, we're off on an Art Nouveau walk, a visit to the Mucha Museum, and, if time allows, the Art Nouveau Museum. 

We'll stop for a tasty treat at the famous Imperial Cafe.

We'll take a few hours off at our hotel and dine in style tonight at the terribly creative Levitate, followed by an evening visit to the Meet Factory Culture Center for music or theatre, depending on what is playing.

Prague

Day 3: Saturday, October 5, 2024

After breakfast, we'll visit the Loreto Monastery. Then, we'll have an early lunch at the “Blue Wagon.” 

Afterward, we'll have the pleasure of attending a midday classical concert at the Lobkowicz Palace, where we'll learn about the rich history of music at the Music Museum. 

You'll have free time to do your own thing from 5-7 pm, after which we'll visit an ancient, very famous pub - the “Strahov Monastery Brewery.” Built as a monastery in 1142, this is one of the oldest breweries in Prague. It offers several popular Czech brews. 

Dinner is on your own tonight.

Vienna

Day 4: Sunday, October 6, 2024

After breakfast and check-out, your guide will pick you up and take you to the central train station. You're off to Vienna.

The English-speaking guide will be waiting at the central train station to take us all to the 4-star Altstadt Vienna. 

Lunch is at the historic "Zwölf Apostelkeller" (12 Apostles Cellar) in its stunning medieval surroundings. 

After a lunch of delicious traditional dishes, we're off on a tour of the city center. We'll start in the famous museum district and follow with a visit to the Sissi Museum in the Hofburg. 

You'll have time to do your own thing between 5:00 and 7:00 pm, after which we'll have dinner at Mraz & Sohn, one of the best and trendiest restaurants in Vienna. It has a Michelin star.

Day 5: Monday, October 7, 2024

We'll have breakfast at the hotel. 

You shouldn't miss a tour of the Mozarthaus in the capital of classical music, so we'll head here first. 

We'll have lunch in the "Miznon." Next to the famous landmark Stephansdom, the restaurant offers a variety of Mediterranean delicacies in a chic atmosphere. 

In the afternoon, we'll visit the MUMOK Museum. Then, you'll have free time to explore unique local designer boutiques. 

Tonight's meal is at Zur Herknerin. One of the insider Viennese restaurants, offering traditional dishes in a unique atmosphere. 

Later, we'll relax and imbibe culture as we attend a classical opera at the State Opera House.

Vienna

Day 6: Tuesday, October 8, 2024

After a lovely breakfast, immerse yourself in the history of Art Nouveau in Vienna with a visit to the Secession Museum. Afterward, we'll walk along the Karlskirche, with its famous baroque architecture, to the Belvedere, where you will visit the popular exhibition of paintings by Gustav Klimt. 

Lunch is at the renowned Michelin-starred Steirereck. 

If time allows we'll make a stop into the Loos Bar to view the work of the famous architect Adolf Loos and why not order a small dijestif or an espresso.

Take time for yourself this afternoon. Later, we'll visit a local biodynamic winery in Grinzing for a special night of wine tasting and dinner.

Budapest

Day 7- Wednesday, October 9, 2024

Check out after breakfast. Your guide will pick you up and take you to the central train station for departure to Budapest. 

An English-speaking guide will pick you up at the central train station in Budapest and take you to the 5-star Hotel Clark Budapest, overlooking the Danube. 

Lunch is at the Kollazs Brasserie after which, we'll explore the Buda Castle area. 

We'll visit the Rudas Thermal Baths in the evening, admiring the magnificent city view while relaxing in a unique atmosphere. 

Let's enjoy a fine meal of Hungarian specialties in the Tati.

Day 8 - Thursday, October 10, 2024

We'll visit the Jewish Monument on the banks of the Danube and then the majestic Hungarian Parliament in the morning, along with a guide. 

Lunch is at St. Andrea Restaurant, followed by an afternoon visit of the House of Terror. The guided tour will immerse you in Hungary's distinctive history. 

Dinner is at Bestia, with a trendy industrial atmosphere, is one of the best BBQ restaurants in Budapest . 

Anyone who wants to continue the adventure after dinner can discover the young and lively Budapest nightlife in the famous ruin bars with a stop at Szimpla Kert, possibly the world's most fascinating bar!

Day 9 - Friday, October 11, 2024

After a delicious breakfast, take a guided tour of the Great Market Hall and shop for groceries for your hands-on cooking class.

Together, we'll prepare a unique Hungarian meal and then we'll feast on our labors! 

Take free time in the afternoon for last-minute shopping and touring.

Our farewell dinner is at Spago. Then, a special surprise -  we'll board an evening sunset cruise on the Danube and toast the glorious ten days we've had together.

Day 10 - Saturday, October 12, 2024

Sadly, all trips must end, but what an adventure to remember. Trade information as you'll surely want to keep in touch with your new travel buddies.

You should fly into the Prague Airport. Be aware that most flights from North America land in the morning.

The trip officially starts on the morning of October 3rd. If you are traveling across an ocean to get to Prague, consider arriving a day early so you have time to relax and adjust to the local time zone. If you do decide to arrive early, please let us know and we will book your room for you and make sure that you stay in the same room as you will be in when the trip starts.

All First Class Train Tickets are included.

We will have a Zoom call about 6 weeks before the trip starts to discuss all that information and give you a packing list. Here is a great website that we love that will help you with packing and travel trips.
