If you’re traveling across an ocean to get to Scotland, consider arriving a day or two early so you have time to relax and adjust to the local time zone. If you do decide to arrive early, just let us know and if you need it, we’ll help you with arrangements.
In August, Scotland typically experiences mild to warm temperatures, ranging from around 59-63F. Overall, August offers longer daylight hours and outdoor activities, but pack layers and waterproof clothing.
Fly into the Edinburgh Airport.
Starting in 2025, visitors from visa-exempt countries like the United States and Canada will require an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) to enter the UK. (You can check whether or not you are required to have an ETA or Visa here). The ETA allows you to visit the UK for up to 6 months for tourism, visiting family and friends, business or short-term study.
You can apply online for the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) here, The process is quick and costs only £10 to apply. The ETA is valid for 2 years or until your passport expires, whichever is shorter. If you get a new passport during the period in which the ETA is active, you will need to get a new ETA.
